Chemical Termite Management Systems

Termite management systems involve specialised chemical or physical products designed to prevent termites from accessing buildings from underneath or via concealed routes. The goal is to force termites out into the open, making their pathways more easily identifiable.

Types of Chemical Termite Management Systems

  1. Chemical Barrier Systems: These systems use liquid termiticides applied to the soil around a building’s perimeter. The termiticide can be either a repellent or a non-repellent and work by being taken back to the colony to cause colony elimination, or by repelling the termites from entering the structure. Some commonly used chemicals include:
    • Termidor: A trusted non-repellent termiticide that provides long-lasting protection against subterranean termites. It is applied to the soil around the foundation and acts as a barrier.
    • Termidor High Efficiency: A newer formulation of Termidor that requires lower application rates while maintaining effectiveness.
    • Biflex: A repellent liquid termiticide used for soil treatment. It provides residual protection against termites.
    • TermX: A product specifically designed for termite control to aid in application of the above products.
  2. Monitoring and Baiting Systems: These systems combine monitoring stations with termite baits. The stations are placed around the property, and when termites are detected, baits are introduced. Termites feed on the bait and carry it back to the colony, eventually eliminating it. While not purely chemical, these systems play a crucial role in termite management.
  3. Integrated Systems: This approach combines both chemical barriers and monitoring/baiting systems. This integrated approach provides comprehensive protection against termites.

Little Critters’ Preferred Chemicals

Little Critters Pest Control generally uses the following chemicals/products for termite management:

  • Termidor: A reliable choice for chemical barrier systems.
  • Termidor High Efficiency: An efficient alternative to standard Termidor.
  • Biflex: A repellent used for soil treatment.
  • TermX: Reticulation system tailored for termite control.

Termite Protection

Effective termite protection involves proactive measures to prevent termite infestations. Little Critters Pest Control recommends regular inspections, timely maintenance, and the use of reliable termiticides like Termidor. By creating a chemical barrier around the property, termite protection ensures that these destructive pests are kept at bay.

Termite Barrier System

The termite barrier system, specifically the chemical barrier, acts as a protective shield. It prevents termites from accessing the building by creating an invisible barrier in the soil. As termites encounter the treated soil, they are either repelled or eliminated by taking the active ingredient back to the colony. This system is particularly effective for pre-construction treatments and post-built installations.

Remember, proactive termite prevention is essential. Regular inspections and maintenance help ensure that termite colonies do not become established.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The most effective chemical for termite control is using the active ingredient Fipronil which is used in products such as Termidor.  This provides a transfer effect through the colony to help provide subterranean termites colony elimination

For termite treatment, Little Critters Pest Control commonly uses Termidor, Termidor High Efficiency, Biflex.

The recommended termiticides for termite control include Requiem bait & Fipronil.

The most effective termite treatment involves a combination of chemical barrier systems (using products like Termidor) and monitoring/baiting systems.
